If I would ask a person “are you happy?”, there is a good chance the answer is going to be ‘no’.
If I then would ask that person “when will you be happy?”, the answer is likely to define conditions that need to be met before happiness arises.
When I earn more money…
When I have a new car…
When I have found a new job…
When it stops raining…
When I improve my golf game…
When Trump is no longer the president…
When my children are doing better at school…
When my partner looks prettier…
When Corona is over…
Etc. etc.
Let me be honest with you.
If this is your mindset on happiness, you are not going to be happy.
There will always be an unfulfilled reason for not being happy.
Most people’s biggest desire is to be happy.
Yet we tend to delay our happiness waiting for conditions to be met.
We wait and wait and wait. Basically, we are waiting most of our lives…
Is the current Corona situation truly a reason for not being happy?
Meditation wisdom has a powerful secret for us: when you focus on what makes you happy, when you focus on reasons for happiness, instant happiness will be your reward!
(Pls note though that the secret also works the other way: when you focus on what makes you unhappy, when you focus on reasons for unhappiness, you will immediately feel unhappy.)
Here is a power question for all of us: what makes you happy?
Take a piece of paper and a pen and start writing what makes you happy. Then, take a few minutes each day to connect with your list.
When you do this, you will feel good and happy. Guaranteed.
And when you do this every day, you will start to find more and more reasons for happiness; your list will grow over time. There is more in your life to be happy about than you are aware of.
Happiness now is possible for all of us. It does not need to be dependent on unfulfilled conditions.
Focus your mind on what makes you happy today and you will be happy today.
