Learn from the best, learn from children

Tuesday, 12 May 2020

This is our daughter Merel, 9 years old. ❤️

Shining, happy, loving, empathetic, self-confident, wise (little) girl.
(and ready for hugs, always – see the shirt)

Like all children in NL in recent weeks, she was doing her schoolwork from home.

Great learning experience.
Learning about virtual connection.
Learning about e-mail instructions.
Learning to focus to get some work done.
Learning to prioritise homework.

Two weeks ago, Merel looked at her schoolwork-to-do list.
Assignments for:
Mathematics…
Dutch language spelling…
Dutch language grammar…
History…
Music…
Dancing!!!

Within seconds she made up her mind on priorities and….. switched on the dance instruction video (from her teacher’s daughter).
And with a big smile, she started learning a new dance. (BOOM!)

Merel loves dancing. She chose with her heart. She chose what she just loves to do.

The wisdom books are full of this guidance: do what you love, follow your passion.
Kahlil Gibran said: “your work is love made visible”;
Rumi said: “let the beauty of what you love be what you do”.

But we don’t need these books to understand life.

Just watch children.

They will show you the natural (i.e. the wisdom) way of life.

As an adult, ask yourself: do you do what you love to do?

Learn from the best, learn from children. They are great teachers.

Thank you Merel for being such a guiding light in my life! I love you.
